Tasty turkey. Why dogs will gobble up our new Slow Cooked Turkey Bowl.
In the 16th century, it was an English king that popularised feasting on turkey during the festive period. Seeing turkey on the table became a regular sight over time, and not just in royal circles. And for our noble doggy friends, turkey is also a healthy and nutritious protein choice, not just on festive occasions, but all year round.
Let’s talk turkey
Turkey is a protein powerhouse. It’s a super source of lean protein and contains some big hitting nutrients. First up are the important B vitamins. Turkey is rich in Niacin, also known as Vitamin B3, which helps every part of your pet’s body to function properly, particularly aiding metabolic reactions that give them energy. Turkey meat is also a great source of Vitamin B6, which supports amino acid metabolism and may aid bladder health. It’s also rich in Vitamin B12 (also known as cobalamin), which plays a critical role in a dog’s overall cell system, particularly the nervous system, cell growth, protein synthesis, fat and carbohydrate metabolism and the formation of red blood cells.
Turkey protein also contains the natural amino acid Tryptophan which helps to reduce stress and aggression in dogs, promotes good mood and a more restful sleep. As well as these nutrients, turkey contains Zinc and Riboflavin which aids fat and carbohydrates being metabolised into energy, and helps in producing red blood cells that carry oxygen and nutrients around the body for your dog’s general health and wellbeing every day. If that’s not enough, it also contains phosphorus which supports building strong healthy bones. Moreover, turkey meat is highly digestible and low in fat. What a nutritional blessing. No wonder so many want to gobble it up.
The quality turkey we source for The Nosh Project is only from high welfare suppliers. This means we only source from producers committed to a high standard of animal welfare that ensures the animals have better lives in regard to the quality of the conditions and care provided.
How our recipe takes turkey to the next level
At The Nosh Project, we believe in giving dogs the absolute best in nutrition. With turkey such a royally awesome source of protein, it makes sense that The Nosh Project’s latest addition to the Daily Diet ready-made meal range for dogs is a Slow Cooked Turkey Bowl. There are no secrets when it comes to our naturally delicious homemade recipes. Everything we do is backed by science and industry experience. Our human grade pet food is scientifically proven, developed by a team of pet nutritionists, approved by a Vet Nutrition Panel of practicing GP Vets and independently tested by Massey University, a world leader in pet nutrition. For our Slow Cooked Turkey Bowl, the recipe is simply balanced, healthy whole food that dogs love. We’ve added in macaroni, potato, broccoli, carrots, spinach, chicken liver, the Nourish 27 mix (vitamins, minerals & DHA), plus vegetable oil, psyllium husk and salt to pack the bowl with a medley of goodness and yumminess.
Carbs for energy
Both pasta and potato are great sources of carbohydrate which provide energy that an active dog needs for their daily activities. Our fresh pasta is made from quality, real ingredients – just flour, water and egg. It contains selenium for antibody production, betaine, folate & phosphorus that can assist with heart health and potassium for bone health. As well as being highly digestible, cooked potato contains vitamins A (for eye health), B6 (for immunity), and C (for immunity), as well as minerals like magnesium, iron, calcium and potassium.
Dietary fibre for digestion
With the natural, healthy combo of real unprocessed vegetables – fresh spinach, broccoli and carrots – you have digestive superstars with dietary fibre to stimulate the digestive tract. Plus add in the iron, antioxidants, folic acid and vitamins, and you have a balanced whole food winner. Spinach contains vitamins A, B, C & K for blood clotting & strong bones. Broccoli is high in vitamin C which boosts the immune system and provides anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains vitamin K which is beneficial for blood clotting and improved bone density. This is great for both senior, aging and active dogs. Carrots of course contain vitamin A for eye health and are a great source of potassium.
27 essential nutrients
Did you know that it only takes a deficiency in ONE essential nutrient to pose serious health risks to your dog over time? That’s why we give your dog 27. Yep, Nourish 27 is a mix of 27 vitamins, minerals and oils that are essential for your dog’s good health. We use it in The Nosh Project Daily Diet ready-made meals to ensure that each and every bowl provides all the nutrients your dog needs.

Pet hydration levels
When it comes to water, we all know its importance for staying hydrated and keeping us functioning. Well, it’s the same for our pets too. How much our pets drink will depend on many different factors. Their size, diet and environment are just some that may affect this. For example, a dog that is fed […]

How to transition to The Nosh Project
Your dog will love The Nosh Project however it’s extremely important to properly transition your pet from their regular diet to any new food. We recommend to do this slowly and in increasing amounts and over a period of 5 to 7 days. Switching your dog’s regular food or diet abruptly can cause gastrointestinal upset […]

How to mix feed
If your pet is a fussy eater, you may feel inclined to try mixed feeding. This is a common practice that involves feeding your pet two or more types of food in one bowl e.g. kibble and The Nosh Project. This can be a great way to make kibble more palatable and add fresh food […]

Pet nutrition vs. Human nutrition
Food, glorious food. We need it to survive, and so do our pets. Just like humans, there are some pets that live to eat, while others eat to live. The only difference is that it’s up to us to ensure they have a healthy, complete and balanced diet. Our pets have vastly different nutritional requirements […]
